Iran attacks leave 12 dead at parliament and Khomeini mausoleum

Twin attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in the capital, Tehran, have killed at the least 12 people and injured many greater.

The assault at the parliament building appears to be over, after hours of intermittent, audible gunfire there. A suicide bomber died at the mausoleum.

Iranian officers say they controlled to foil a 3rd attack.

The so-referred to as Islamic nation organization (IS) has claimed it executed the attacks, which could be a first in Iran.

IS later posted a video which showed what it claimed become pictures from within the parliament building.

Iranian media stated that 4 attackers within the parliament constructing had been killed by way of security forces.

It isn't always clean whether the dying toll of 12 includes the attackers, or whether or not the sufferers have been killed at each incidents or completely on the parliament.

At about 10:40 (06:10 GMT) attackers at the mausoleum in southern Tehran, which is dedicated to the Islamic Republic's founder Ayatollah Khomeini, opened fireplace.

The governor of Tehran stated one attacker there had detonated a suicide vest and another were killed by security forces, kingdom broadcaster Irib reports.

Snap shots from the scene showed grenades and magazines for automatic guns, reputedly recovered from the frame of an attacker.

The suicide attacker was a lady, reviews suggested.
